Dr. Link has served as chairman of our Board of Directors since June 2001. Dr. Link was also a member of the board of directors of DOSE Medical Corporation from October 2009 to June 2019, when it was acquired by Glaukos. Dr. Link has a proven record of building and operating large, successful medical product companies. He has extensive knowledge of medical devices and drug delivery, particularly in ophthalmology, and his operating experience spans more than 23 years in general management in the healthcare industry. Dr. Link is a founder and principal of Flying L Partners and he is a managing director and co-founder of Versant Ventures Management LLC, a venture capital firm investing in early stage healthcare companies and one of our principal stockholders. Prior to co-founding Versant Ventures in 1999, Dr. Link was a general partner at Brentwood Venture Capital. From 1986 to 1997, Dr. Link was founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Chiron Vision Corporation (acquired by Bausch & Lomb, Inc.). He also founded and served as President of American Medical Optics, Inc. (acquired by Allergan, Inc.). Dr. Link has previously served as a member of the board of directors of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation and currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Oyster Point Pharma, Inc., Lensar, Inc. and Second Sight Medical Products, Inc. He also served as a director of Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. (acquired by Abbott Laboratories) from 2002 to 2009 and a director of Inogen, Inc. from 2003 to February 2014. Before entering the healthcare industry, Dr. Link was an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Link holds a B.S. and an M.S., as well as a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
